Selena Banned from Russia over Gay Rights

Selena Gomez is not having a smooth ride at all into Russia, where she had scheduled two concerts; the reason being not far from her contrary position on gay rights.

Cosmopolitan News revealed that organizers for the two concerts Selena had scheduled in St. Petersburg and Moscow have revealed to The Moscow Times that Russian officials have denied Selena’s request to enter the country under its new anti-gay law.

It was also reportedly gathered that US gay rights activist John Becker, who was actively encouraging Selena to use her platform on the Russian stage to speak out in favour of gay rights and gay marriage, told E! News that Russian officials were "afraid" of what Selena might do. "This cancellation of Selena Gomez’s visa shows that the Russian government is sensitive and on the defense, and shows that the pressure from people all around the world and the backlash against these laws is strong." "They’re afraid to have someone like Selena Gomez come in and potentially use her platform to advance LGBT rights."

Before now, a number of performers were affected by these stringent anti-gay laws in Russia - particularly Lady Gaga and Madonna, both of whom were actively promoting their gay rights beliefs. Reports also had it that they were  threatened with legal action by the Russian government.

Selena is really at a cross-road; what advice can you give her, and what is your take about the Russian Government's action?
